Five Minutes

I sat for five minutes in the cold and closed my eyes to meditate; my mind focusing immediately on the soft brittle drumming of the waterfall. I breathed, watched, brushed away those swirling thoughts that were extraneous to the moment: finances, friends, work, pasts and futures till there was nothing, but sound and atmosphere. Upon opening my eyes I studied the sunlight hitting the waters, colors of the creek bed and let happiness unfold.
